Create a spooky atmosphere for your guests

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you're someone who loves decorating your home with amazing spooky decor elements or if you just want to try something new this year, we have some creative and super easy ideas for you. We've gathered 8 affordable and simple DIY decorating ideas that will make your guests and neighbors shiver! This post includes both creative decorating ideas and information on where to buy all the materials, so you can easily find what you need either online or in physical stores. Luckily, you have plenty of time to plan for Halloween 2023.

What we love about DIY Halloween decorations is that they are so easy to personalize. Even if you and your neighbors buy decorations from the same store, the final result can look completely unique. So go ahead and use your inner creativity :).

1. Go wild with bats

A creative way to fill those empty walls in your home. You can either draw and cut them yourself or buy them as wall decorations from partyking.fi. You can choose a pack of 24 pieces, which contains bats in various sizes for 7,90 €, or a pack of 20 larger bats in three sizes: 25 cm, 30 cm, and 36 cm for 11,90 €. The only accessory you need for installation is blue tape, which you can find at your nearest grocery store.

3. Hanging eyeballs

Another fun but creepy item to hang on your door is a spooky eyeball garland. While this does require more tools and time compared to the previous idea, it’s still an incredibly satisfying project once it's completed, and again – a cost-effective idea to spice up your Halloween. You can find a straw wreath for as little as 5,85 € from floristik24.fi. You may also find one at your local thrift store. A hot glue gun can be found at Puuilo.fi for 5,99 €. Creepy eyeballs can be found at s-kaupat.fi in a pack of 8 balls for 2,70 €. You may need several packs to fill the whole wreath! With any ribbon or string, you can hang it on your door hook.

4. Pumpkin / Bell Pepper Decorations

Pumpkins are usually the main focus of Halloween decorations. But how about adding cute Halloween-themed bell peppers too? You can find them at any local grocery store for under 2 € per piece, but you’ll need to keep them indoors and they may not last long. So planning is key if you're throwing a party! All you need is a permanent black marker from your local store and your creativity to draw naughty faces. For the usual amazing pumpkin decorations with LED lighting (without using real pumpkins that create organic waste), you can find various options at rusta.fi starting from 3,99 €.

If you have old wine bottles that you haven’t recycled yet, don’t be too quick to part with them. You can spray paint them black with spray paint, for example, from puuilo.fi for 5,29 €. Additionally, you’ll need melting candles (candle sticks), which you can buy from tokmanni.fi for 3,99 €/10 pack, to complete the decor.
