Want to Cut Your Electricity Bill This Winter?

Turn Off Unnecessary Lights and Devices

As the evenings get darker, we tend to switch on all the lights in our home without realizing how much energy it consumes. Make sure to turn off lights in rooms you're not using. The same goes for electronics—if you're not watching TV, turn it off. Also, avoid leaving your phone or laptop charging overnight, as unnecessary charging wastes electricity and shortens battery life.

Use Energy-Saving Lights

LED bulbs use up to 80% less electricity than traditional bulbs. While they may be slightly more expensive upfront, they last much longer and save you watts on your electricity bill.

Use the Oven Wisely When Cooking

An oven uses twice as much electricity as a stovetop, especially for quick meals like fries and pizza. To save energy, try cooking multiple dishes at once while the oven is hot.

Be Mindful of Sauna Usage

A hotter sauna means higher electricity consumption. A good temperature is 70-80°C (158-176°F). Additionally, frequent sauna use throughout the week can significantly increase your energy bill. If possible, reduce the number of sauna sessions.

Avoid Handwashing Dishes

You can save both electricity and hot water by avoiding handwashing dishes. Handwashing typically uses more warm water than a dishwasher. Always run a full load in the dishwasher to minimize cycles. Also, wash dishes and laundry when electricity rates are lower, such as at night or on weekends.

Bonus Tip: Compare energy contracts to ensure you're getting the best possible deal for energy savings.
